Upon arriving at a yard sale mid morning, I noticed some jewelry items in front of the lady holding the sale. As I was looking through the container, a set of earrings jumped out at me. They were black pearls with purple and green luster.

Upon closer inspection, I found the 14 K mark on the earring post and backs. I looked at the little price sign and read $0.25 per set. My eyes bugged out of my head, twenty-five cents, I quickly whipped out a quarter and paid for them. I put them in my purse and continued shopping.

Here’s the scoop on the earrings. They are 6 mm Tahitian Pearl stud earrings with 14 K yellow gold posts and backs. One earring weighs 0.50 grams and the other weighs 0.48 grams. I sold the pair on 12-25-13 for $24 plus shipping. Not bad considering they cost me twenty-five cents. That’s a profit of $19.50 after all the fees were paid.

Here’s a tip; you can go straight for the jewelry at sales and pay for the items to put in your bag. Then you can continue to shop. It guarantees you get the pieces you want. Otherwise, someone else may check out in front of you and buy the goodies. Remember, most people will leave the jewelry for the end of their shopping, since it is usually on the check out table, near the people conducting the sale.
