I recently received notification from a reader that they scored bling at a garage sale. They were so proud of their booty haul that they took a moment to send me the picture and story. Here's the scoop on what happened:
Upon arriving at the garage sale mid-morning, they noticed an open jewelry box. While looking at the jewelry the seller came over and began to talk to her. The seller said a lot of people were at the sale earlier in the morning scouring through the jewelry. She proceeded to tell my reader that all these people were here this morning using their loupes looking for marks on the jewelry. She further added that she looked through all the jewelry making sure she removed everything with marks, so they wouldn't find any gold or silver at this sale. This would have discouraged most people from looking through the jewelry, but not my reader. At that very same moment, my reader was already holding 3 rings, 2 pairs of earrings, and a pendant all marked sterling or 925. When she asked how much she wanted for the jewelry, the seller replied $3.
This is a very important lesson that I cannot stress enough: just because the seller tells you they looked over the jewelry and other people have been there with loupes, IT DOES NOT MEAN THAT THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. Be sure to check all the jewelry anyways...you might just score sterling silver like my reader did!!!
Thank you to my reader for sending me this great story and the picture to share with our community.
Be sure to check out the picture:
I'm so proud that my book and blog are helping people locate their own cheap silver and gold stashes.
What have you found? Be sure to let me know your story. I just love receiving stories and pictures from my readers.
