After searching the Craigslist garage sale ads early one morning, with my list and route made for the day’s garage sale adventure, off I went. This house was my last one for the day. When I arrived at the house, I was disappointed this residence was one I visited previously in the season. It was one of the perpetual yard sales. I figured I would go in again to see if they had anything new, after all I was already there.
It turned out they did. They had collectibles displayed all throughout the house. They were quite expensive, too. Then, I spotted an open jewelry box with pieces inside. One particular pendant caught my eye. It was marked 925 Mexico, but there was no price. I placed it in my hand and continued looking around. I found additional jewelry in baggies on another table. One was a sterling silver box chain for a dollar.
Upon leaving, I asked how much they wanted for the Menorah Pendant. She told me it was FREE. I couldn’t believe my ears – FREE for a beautiful sterling silver marked Menorah Pendant.
This pendant weighed 6.1 grams and measured 1.5” long by 0.75” wide. It was marked Mexico 925 on the bale. The scrap silver price was $3.76. However, I sold it on 12-5-13 for $29.99. After the selling fees, it was a profit of $25.
Remember, even if the sell is high priced on some items, it doesn’t mean they will be high priced on precious metal items. Also, just because the sale has been running for a while, doesn’t mean they won’t be putting out new items. It might be worth another visit.
